The St John Ambulance 'Three ways to save a life' campaign was delivered at Waterhead Academy to Year 8 students as part of the Academy's comprehensive PSHE programme of study.
The course was delivered by St John Ambulance facilitators including Shannon, a year 11 student at the Academy and fully qualified St John Ambulance course facilitator.
A Year 8 student, Mally, also became the 15,000th person within Greater Manchester to receive the 'Three ways to save a life' training.
The key life saving techniques taught included:
Delivering cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using a defibrillator
How to treat severe bleeding and catastrophic haemorrhage
How to treat someone who is choking
Mr Wilson, Assistant Principal for Personal Development at the school, said: "The St John Ambulance 'Three ways to save a life' campaign is an excellent initiative and one that Waterhead Academy was delighted to be involved in.
"I believe that learning emergency first aid skills is the best life lesson a young person can learn.
"I encourage all young people, as well as adults, to undertake the St John Ambulance training as you could ultimately be the difference to saving the life of a loved one or a member of the public.
"On behalf of staff and students at the Academy, I would like to thank the St John Ambulance course facilitators and we look forward to welcoming them back in the new year to train more of our students in emergency first aid skills."
