Local businesses donated prizes to Co-op Academy Failsworth’s Christmas raffle
Following a successful charity football match earlier in the month, Co-op Academy Failsworth have increased their fundraising efforts by partnering with local businesses.
Working with local businesses like The Dog and Partridge Pub, The Card Cottage, KFC Failsworth, McDonalds Failsworth and Tesco Extra Failsworth, the academy raised over £500 to further support their local community with a raffle and Christmas concert.
Local businesses donated prizes to Co-op Academy Failsworth’s Christmas raffle.
All of the money raised will be used towards Failsworth’s Community Fridge.
Gary Hanmer, General Manager at the Dog and Partridge pub, said: “We only took over the pub three weeks ago, and we want to help the community as much as possible.
"It’s all about getting stuck in and driving local businesses to help as well as our own."
The Community Fridge, based at Failsworth Sports Campus on Brierley Avenue, has been supporting over 20 families a week since it opened in 2021.
It offers long-life food, hygiene and sanitary products for free to those who are in need.
Co-op Academy Failsworth’s Community Fridge is open Monday-Friday, 2pm-5pm, and offers no questions asked support.
The Fridge will close briefly over Christmas and reopen on January 4.
Money was raised by staff, students, parents, carers and relatives of Co-op Academy Failsworth via donations and purchasing tickets for the raffle.
Headteacher Phill Quirk said: “It’s great to see local businesses getting involved and supporting the Co-op Academy Failsworth community fridge.
"I’d like to say a huge thank you for their generosity."
