FCHO offer support for customers affected by cost of living crisis

Oldham’s biggest social housing provider, First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO), have stated that free, confidential support is available to its customers as cost of living pressures bite.

FCHO has launched the ‘Need a hand?’ initiative to highlight the ways its specialist teams are there for those who live in FCHO-owned homes.

Trained colleagues from the housing association aim to help customers maximise their income through access to The Bread and Butter Thing affordable food service, advice regarding reducing debt, checks on benefit entitlement and further tailored help for those in need.

FCHO also insist that support is available to help residents to pay their rent and charges, and job seekers can be assisted with finding their next opportunity.

Teams can provide advice on ways to save energy and keep bills down too, and signpost customers to other partner organisations to make sure they get all the help they need.

FCHO also vow to join forces with Oldham Council to create even more Warm Spaces across the borough.

In addition to Oldham Council’s Warm Banks, the social housing provider runs five Warm Spaces at community centres across Oldham throughout the week, where people can keep warm for free.

To access a range of free, confidential support, FCHO customers can email: communityservices@fcho.co.uk or call 0161 393 7117.

Kelly Webb, FCHO’s Director of Customer Services, said: “We know that rising costs for energy, food and more are pushing some of our customers into financial hardship and the festive season may be tougher to manage.

“We’ve seen increased demand for our services in the past six months and we want to do all we can to support our customers as the cost-of-living crisis continues.

"We’re here to give them a hand if they are facing financial worries and we encourage those who need advice or practical support to get in touch, so we can help.”
