The then HRH The Duchess of Cornwall visits Emmaus Mossley for The Big Lunch in May, 2022
The Big Lunch at Christmas is taking place on Friday (December 16) at homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley, and everyone is invited to join the festive fun.
Emmaus Mossley is teaming up with The Big Lunch to host another shared lunch to bring people together.
The charity supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home, work, companionship and individual support.
The Big Lunch at Christmas is a chance for the local community and Emmaus supporters to enjoy a festive feast with people supported by the charity, Emmaus volunteers and staff.
Everyone is invited to bring a dish or sweet treat to share, enjoy the tasty food on offer, chat, relax and have some festive fun.
Hazel Hodkinson, Retail Manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We’re very excited to be hosting our third Big Lunch event of the year this month.
"Our companions, volunteers and staff have a communal lunch every day, so it’s great that we’re able to expand this out and involve our friends, supporters and the wider community.”
The Big Lunch at Christmas is about sharing food and friendship with people in your community over the festive season.
It’s a busy time of year, but for some, it can feel quite lonely, so taking the time to say hello to a neighbour over a shared meal is a great way to keep connected and celebrate our communities at Christmas.
Every June, The Big Lunch brings millions of people together to share friendship, food and fun as the UK’s annual celebration for neighbours and communities.
It’s a simple idea that has a lasting positive impact on those who take part.
The Big Lunch at Christmas will take place on Friday from 12pm to 2pm at Emmaus Mossley, Longlands Mill, Queen Street, Mossley, OL5 9AH.
No prior booking is needed - just turn up on the day and if you can, bring some food to share.
