The children and families at Yew Tree Community School in Chadderton are marking the success of another generous campaign.
Having raised nearly £600 for the Pakistan flood appeal last month with a non-uniform day, the school have been collecting food for others who may be less fortunate than themselves.
Yew Tree teacher Alexandra McCreary and the School Council members coordinated both schemes, and this time pupils have collected over 500 tins and packets to help create food parcels for families at this difficult time of year.
Head of School, Mr Rais Bhatti, said “The school always likes to help raise awareness of global and local issues within our curriculum or during assembly time. We are always really proud of our response to people who need our help. The families at our school always go the extra mile and try to help if they possibly can.”
The items will be donated to Crossley Community Centre on Denton Lane who are running the ‘Feed My City’ initiative, as well as supplying emergency dry food parcels.
