This winter you can dedicate a light to someone you love with St Ann’s Hospice and join with others in the community to remember loved ones you have lost at one of the charity’s six services of remembrance in December.
St Ann’s Hospice is hosting six services where you can dedicate a light to someone you love.
St Ann’s Hospice provides holistic care to patients with life-limiting illnesses - including inpatient care, day therapy, outpatient support and bereavement support - from its sites at Heald Green, Stockport and Little Hulton, Salford.
By making an online dedication you are added to the Winter Forest, to be seen by others who also make a dedication and to remember your loved one with a photo.
The details of each service in December are:
· Manchester Cathedral on Sunday 4th December at 1pm, 2:30pm or 4pm
· St Ann’s Hospice, Little Hulton (outdoors) on Monday 5th December at 7pm
· St Peter’s Church, Hale on Wednesday 7th December at 7pm
· St Ann’s Hospice, Heald Green (outdoors) on Thursday 8th December at 7pm
Fundraiser Neil Williamson is supporting this year's Light Up a Life Appeal for St Ann's Hospice and will dedicate a light in memory of his mum Jo, who died from cancer in 2017.
Neil's mum wanted to die at home in Irlam, a wish fulfilled thanks to the care provided by the St Ann's Hospice at Home team, who also care for a number of patients from the Oldham area.
"The Hospice at Home service provided a comfort blanket, with help provided intermittently at home," said Neil.
"We knew it was available as and when required as mum's condition deteriorated.
"I can't overstate the relief this knowledge provided and how helpful the assistance was when the nurses were needed at home."
Neil is urging fellow supporters to follow his example this Christmas.
He added: “St Ann's needs our support now more than ever.
"I'm supporting the Light Up a Life campaign and encourage others to do the same.”
