Council warns: mail strike may delay your postal vote
Date published: 28 October 2022
Some postal strikes are planned for November
Oldham Council has asked all Hollinwood voters who wish to vote by post in the November 17 by-election to return their postal packs as quickly as possible.
Chief Executive Harry Catherall said: “With some postal strikes planned for November, some people may find their postal vote gets delayed – and it wouldn’t be counted if it was received after polling day.
“So if you’ve applied for a postal vote, please do look out for its arrival – and complete the postal vote documents and return them to us as soon as possible.”
The postal strikes are anticipated for these dates:
Wednesday 2 November
Thursday 3 November
Friday 4 November
Tuesday 8 November
Wednesday 9 November
Thursday 10 November
To be counted, your postal vote must be received by the council by 10pm on election day, Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Postal votes can be handed into the Elections Office, Room 222, Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL or to a polling station on the day of the election.
