You're in for the fright of your life at Christine's haunted house on Shawhead Drive!

Date published: 28 October 2022

One place that you and your kids are guaranteed a spooky welcome this Halloween is Christine Martin's house on Shawhead Drive in Failsworth.

That's because every year for the past 10 years, Christine's place has been turned into a haunted house of terror, and local parents and their children can't seem to keep away!

Each Halloween, Christine's home gets the complete transformation treatment, and the local community loves it.

Christine told the Chronicle: "It all started around a decade ago when my grandson was just a little too young to be taken out trick or treating.

"We just sat down and thought 'why not dress our house up for Halloween, and then there's no need to go out?'.

"It's all just escalated from there really.

"All the neighbours and people from across the local community come to see our haunted house, and even kids from the local school come round.

"Everyone loves it, and we love to see some of the kids' faces when they see what we've got here."

There is plenty to be spooked about at Christine's house!

In the front garden there are scary inflatables and spiders' webs for the little ones.

Down the drive there is TWO gazebos, one with an electric chair that vibrates and smokes, while two assistants dress up.

The other one is for photo’s, and that is the autopsy room (pictured below)!

Round the back is a haunted graveyard and two more gazebos.

The main one features a medieval banquet table, and the smaller one sees a welcome from a fortune teller - Claire Voyant!

The only place no-one is allowed to gois the graveyard at the back, as that is where the electrics run through.

"Everyone is welcome," added Christine.

"Everyone can take photos and each child gets a little goody bag to take home with them."

Christine leaves a Poppy box and display by the entrance, so any visitors can donate - if they manage to escape alive!
