Mahdlo's 'Tree of Trees' signifies 'a message of hope, regeneration and optimism'

Mahdlo Youth Zone has received a special tree from the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC).

The 'Tree of Trees', which stands tall as a message of hope, regeneration and optimism to the nation and the world, formed part of the now late Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations.

Mahdlo joins 300 organisations from across the UK who were recently announced by the QGC as recipients of these special trees in the Queen’s name, which are gifted in a pot embossed with Her Majesty’s cypher.

Presented by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, the tree will be planted on November 2, 2022, at Mahdlo Youth Zone on Egerton Street in Oldham.

The tree becomes part of the living legacy in honour of Her Majesty, joining over a million trees already planted across the UK as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

The charity is thrilled to be chosen for their contribution to the Oldham community.

Mahdlo Chief Executive Lucy Lees said: “I’m sure the community will join me in being incredibly proud of Mahdlo for receiving this special recognition.

"The trees and pots are symbols of gratitude for our tireless efforts.

"Thank you to each and every one of our supporters for the role they have in ensuring the young people of Oldham have the opportunity to be the best they can be.”
