The industrious team behind creative fundraising schemes for their village school are celebrating the opening of a unique Trim Trail.
And the Friends of Diggle School (FODS) turned out in force to see the results of their Trojan efforts which raised a remarkable £16,000 in just one year.
The trail, which cost £10,000, is a natural adventure play park for the children to enjoy on their breaks, and is located on the school field.
Tracy Buckley, speaking on the group’s behalf, said: “Building the trail would not have been possible without our marvellous locals and supporters.
“They backed our events including bringing a fantastic circus to the community, innovative Scarecrow and Spooky Trails, Wacky Races, Easter Hunts, Break The Rules Days - and everything else in between.
“We just can't wait to see all the children playing on it,” she added.
“£10,000 has been spent on the trail and the rest, £6,000, on other things for school.”
And it was fitting that members of FODS, including the chair, Jennii Chapman, Tracy Buckley, Rachael Russell, Emily Drake and Timmy Drake, celebrated at the trail’s opening with their children.
In the coming year the group are hoping to raise even more funds, kicking off with their hugely popular 'Penny Wars', which see the children have a money jar for each class.
Copper coins put the tally up, but other classes at the school can sabotage them with silver which puts the total down.
