Man remains critical after being rescued from lake at Daisy Nook

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being rescued from a lake yesterday (Thursday) at Daisy Nook Country Park.

Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the rescue, and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A statement on the GMP Failsworth and Hollinwood Facebook page read: "Police were called to reports of a male in a lake at Daisy Nook Country Park, Failsworth at around 3pm on Thursday (September 1, 2022).

"Members of the public assisted in getting the male, aged 24 years, out of the water, known as Sammy’s Basin, and performed CPR prior to paramedics attending.

"The male was later transferred to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"We would like to thank those members of the public who came to his aid and also appeal to any witnesses who may have been in the area around that time and saw what happened."
