Praise for rescue team's 'dogs bodies'

They are known, with deep affection, as “the dogs bodies”.

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team’s dogs and their handlers train several times a week in all weathers, in order to become qualified and keep up their required skill set.

This arduous training schedule would not be possible without a team of volunteers who “body” for the team.

And the “dogs bodies”, John Hill and Natalie Wallace, are the unsung heroes of the dog training world.

They dedicate huge amounts of personal time hiding on the hills and acting as casualties waiting for the dogs to find them.

Their unwavering support sees them out in all weathers: braving wet and cold in the winter months and attacked by midges in the summer season.

“They truly are fantastic and dedicated individuals, and it is only right that we acknowledge their selflessness and say a massive thank you to them today,” said an OMRT spokesman.

“Our dogs and their handlers would be lost without you.”
