Fans formed a long queue outside Boundary Park today (Monday) when discounted season ticket sales resumed following the takeover of Latics by Frank Rothwell’s family.

One fan in the queue purchased a season ticket for a supporter who lives in Kuala Lumpur.

“The overseas fan says he will only get to a couple of matches, but was happy to make a £300 donation to support Latics' new owners," said a friend.

Darren Royle, the club's new Chief Operating Officer, apologised to the fans for the the wait.

Latics boss John Sheridan (left) and his assistant Tommy Wright posed for photographs with Latics fans outside Boundary Park

But one person in the queue said: “Nobody seemed bothered as fans exchanged Latics memories."

The discount is to continue all week.

Royle has also confirmed in a letter to fans that the Joe Royle Stand will be fully reopened once the new season starts.

The 100 Club and Executive Boxes will also be reinstated.
