Councillor supports rejection of High Crompton takeaway plan

Liberal Democrat Councillor for Crompton Dave Murphy
Crompton Liberal Democrat Councillor Dave Murphy was delighted to be notified of the decision by the Government Planning Inspector dismissing plans for a hot food takeaway on Trent Road in High Crompton.
The Planning Inspector, who is independent from Oldham Council, visited the site, agreed with the OMBC's Planning Office as well as comments from local residents, and this went towards the ultimate decision to dismiss the appeal.
Cllr Murphy said: “For me it’s a right result; it should put this thing to bed for good.
"That's not just for this application, but also for any future takeaway application at this location.”
Oldham Council’s reasons for the three refusals were very strong and were backed by the Planning Inspector - Living Conditions, Highway Safety and Other Matters.
The main issues are the effect of the proposed development upon the living conditions of neighbouring residents, with particular regard to noise and disturbance, and highway safety.
“Thanks must go to the local residents who helped to get the message out there that they did not want this type of establishment at Top Shops in High Crompton," added Cllr Murphy.
"I am really pleased that we all played part keeping this area unique."
