Steph and Ange gear up for their marathon challenge

Date published: 06 July 2022

Two determined runners from the Oasis Academy Oldham school on Hollins Road are preparing to take on their biggest ever charity challenge.

Steph Sheridan, a Pastoral Leader at the school, and her colleague Ange Maher, will take part in the London Marathon in October.

Steph said: "Every day I see the effects poverty and now covid has had on the local community.

"Families are struggling to put food on the table, let alone afford uniform or school trips.

"We wanted to help and Oasis have been kind enough to offer me and Ange a charity place for this year's London Marathon.

"Between us we hope to raise £3,800."

Ange said: "I started running just four years ago aged 47, to help manage my chronic condition Trigeminal Neuralgia.

"I have never run before, yet have seen massive improvements in my physical and mental health.

"I feel stronger than ever and now it’s time to give something back."

Steph and Ange are raising funds for the Oasis Charitable Trust and are up to approximately £1,600 so far.
