Inspirational teacher Steve Hill has officially launched his new book.
Steve, who last month became a Platinum Champion to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee, is Deputy Head at St Joseph's RC Primary School in Shaw.
The Oldham adventurer has taken on some jaw dropping challenges over the last 13 years and managed to raise over £100,000 for various charities along the way. But he found writing a book a challenge of a different kind.
Steve, from Shaw says; "The book is called 'What's Next Sir? How one teacher's mission to inspire his pupils, taught him so much more in return'.
"I had the idea after one person listened to a talk I was giving as an ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, who asked me 'What's next Sir? When are you writing a book?
"I'd also been asked to write a book by different people before that but never had time.
"When the pandemic hit, I found I had a bit more time, so I started it during March 2020, whilst we were in lockdown and it has been an adventure of a different kind."
The book is a story to inspire other people about self belief, having big dreams, motivation and never giving up.
Steve told us: "When following your dreams it's important to ban the word 'can't' - it's I can and I will.
"We're all entitled to big dreams, no matter where you're from and what your background is.
"Don't listen to the doubters, or people who say who do you think you are? You shouldn't avoid failure either, that's when you learn the most.
"My message is to just get out there and keep moving forward".
The launch event took place at Crompton Cricket Club, and among the guests were current Oldham Mayor, Cllr Elaine Garry, and former Oldham mayors Ginny Alexander and Jenny Harrison.
Steve says he was overwhelmed with his support: "I'm struggling to find the words to describe the Book Launch of ‘What’s Next Sir?’. Such an amazing evening, shared with the special people in my life. Thank-you to everyone who attended and for being part of a night I’ll never forget!"
The book is available online at Troubador, Amazon, Waterstones, WH Smith or from any bookstore.
A percentage of each book sale will go to the Team Hill Charitable Trust.
