Oldham's Prince Naseeb has raised almost 4 million pounds for charity so far.
A singing sensation and charity ambassador, known as Prince Naseeb from Oldham, is celebrating after raising almost £400,000 for charity during the month of Ramadan.
Naseeb Abbas, who is from Glodwick, has become renowned for his inspirational work to help the desperately poor and needy, in the Kashmir region of Pakistan.
The father of two has raised funds through singing at weddings and his social media pages, where people can donate through JustGiving.
He told The Oldham Evening Chronicle; “I’m incredibly passionate about singing and raising money for charity.
“I decided I wanted to do something to help people around 4 – 5 years ago and this is my way of being able to do that.
“I feel extremely blessed and grateful, that I’m in a position to be able to carry out this work, which is very badly needed.
“I never realised my social media would take off in this way and I wanted to put it to good use.”
Naseeb has been an ambassador for KORT, the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust, for the past two years and since then has done a phenomenal job.
To date, he has raised almost 4 million pounds for charities during the past few years, including the NHS last year, when he donated almost £90K to help during the pandemic.
His fundraising efforts even attracted the attention of ITV and he appeared on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway last year.
“I was absolutely blown away when I appeared on the show, where they featured me because of my charity work.
“It was a total surprise that my sister had organised.
“Everyone in the studio couldn’t believe how much money I’d raised and we were even gifted some tickets to America, by the show.”
He says people at weddings, where he is a Nasheed artist, are incredibly generous. He’s amazed at how much people give and he regularly walks out after having raised thirty to forty thousand pounds.
But despite his success, he’s very humble and says he’s a very proud Oldhamer, always trying to promote his home town.
“I’m always proud to say that I am from Oldham, whenever possible.”
Naseeb tells us his next mission is to continue to try and alleviate poverty in Pakistan and do good work.
“We are trying to build a 10 million pound hospital in Azad Kashmir, which will be for everyone and we've raised just over a million pounds so far.
“We’re also trying to build villages for the poor, which will be to help orphans, widows, the elderly and very poor. People will be checked to see if they’re eligible to live there.
“I want to continue to do great work and help in any way I can.”
