Volunteers and residents have been out in the sunshine this weekend, clearing litter and cleaning up.
Volunteers from Clarksfield Community Group, Bilal Jamia Mosque, residents from Clarksfield, and local Waterhead Councillors all took part in organised event as part of the Great British Spring Clean Up.
Residents met up at Bilal Jamia Mosque in Clarksfield at 11am to begin cleaning their local area.
The cleaning equipment was provided by Big Local Oldham and the local Councillors also provided support.
Clarksfield Community Group members are Amjid Mohammad and Arfan Zar, Big Local representative is Naeem Iqbal, and Bilal Jamia Mosque member is Wasim Iqbal
Amjid told the Chronicle that the group hope that the litter picks become a regular thing.
"Clarksfield Community Group aims to get local residents together regularly to clean up the local area and this event was tied into a clean up before Ramadan begins.
"The main aim of these clean ups is for local residents to have a clean area that they can be proud of and to teach the younger children about the importance of looking after the local area and being good, responsible and caring citizens.
"It was a really nice day and everyone was positive."
Big Local is a national charity funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and managed by Local Trust. It supports local communities to tackle issues that they feel are important to their local area. Since its formation, the trust has given over £1m in funding to 150 communities across the UK, to spend how they wish.
After the clean up, refreshments and desserts were provided for all who took part.
