Daisy Nook Culture Trail
Created by Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s Learning and Engagement Team, families across Oldham are invited to explore the town’s industrial heritage and meet characters that walked the paths of Daisy Nook during the Victorian era on a self-guided Culture Trail.
Stories and characters along the trail have been created from historical articles from Oldham Local Studies and Archives plus the imagination and creativity of community groups across Oldham.
Meet the local farmer for a bit of friendly competition, discover what Oldham newcomer Neelam thinks of her first cold winter, learn all about the Boggart of Crime Lake and hear what a local mill worker thinks of Annie Kenney’s involvement with Christabel Pankhurst and the Suffrage movement.
A free map for the Culture Trail can be collected from the Coliseum, from the John Howard Countryside Centre at Daisy Nook, or downloaded from the Coliseum website.
Use the map to find QR codes around the park and watch videos introducing you to Victorian characters, each with additional activities and conversation starters to try. All that’s needed is a sense of adventure and a smart phone.
