Have your say on the next phase of FCHO’s West Vale scheme
First Choice Homes Oldham is inviting residents and people from across the Oldham borough to get along to a community engagement event next Wednesday (September 29) and share their views on the next phase of the West Vale scheme.
The session will be held between 3-6pm on the West Street car park, next to where the iconic towerblocks Crossbank and Summervale now stand.
FCHO’s plans to demolish these buildings and in their place bring forward 88 new homes – a mix of family homes and apartments – were approved by Oldham Council in June this year.
The housing association is now encouraging local people to get involved in the project’s next steps and give feedback on upcoming community projects, regeneration plans for the surrounding area, the choice of materials to be used in the new build properties, and more.
Daniel Isherwood, FCHO Project and Partnerships Officer, said: “Community is at the heart of our West Vale project, which is why we’re hosting this opportunity for local people come and tell us what they think of our plans for the next phase.
“We’re at a really exciting point to be involved.
"Our National Lottery Heritage Funded community development and digital inclusion project is getting off the ground and the towerblocks’ demolition is about to commence in the autumn.
"There are opportunities to have your say on the materials we use in the new homes and see the options for improving the surrounding neighbourhood.
"Our friends from Northern Lily will be at the session too, running a wildflower planting activity.
“Our team will also be on hand to answer any questions you have about the scheme and gather feedback, so if you’d like to get involved, we’d love to see you there.”
FCHO’s West Vale community engagement session will be held Wednesday, September 29, 3-6pm at the West Street car park, West Street OL9 6EJ.
