The Rotary Club of Oldham have recognised young people's outstanding achievements, in their 'Student of the Year' Awards 2021.

They reflected the ability and determination to overcome challenges presented to them and set examples of fortitude and leadership.

The nominations received reflected the way young people have responded to the needs of communities, the needs of families and also the needs of fellow students.

All nominees received a Nomination Certificate.

President of Oldham Rotary Club, Bernard Stone, said: "I'm proud to be involved in the Awards and I was amazed at the resilience of young people during the past 18 months of Covid"

Incoming President Neil Taylor said: "I'm amazed at the quality of the nominations received and the variety of ways that young people offered service to the community in difficult and challenging times."

The organising committee and the judging panel of eight Rotarians were faced with a challenging number of nominations from schools, academies and colleges from across the borough and had difficult decisions to make.
