Oldham now has the lowest seven-day Covid-19 infection rate in Greater Manchester

Figures released today (Wednesday) reveal that Oldham now has the lowest seven-day Covid-19 infection rate across Greater Manchester – numbers which are also lower than the current England rate.

Between May 9-15, Oldham has had 43 new cases identified, a decrease on the previous week’s total of 61. 

The total number of confirmed cases in Oldham is now 23,294 with a rate of 9,824 per 100,000 population – still the highest rate across Greater Manchester and 11th highest across England – but the latest Oldham rate of 18 per 100,000 population has decreased again from 26 for the previous week.

Over the last 28 days, positive case numbers were highest amongst the secondary school age and working populations (10-49).

Over the last seven days, the Borough ward with the highest case rate per 100,000 was Medlock Vale, with 35.

Encouragingly, multiple wards had fewer than five cases.

Over the last 28 days, the ward with the highest rate was Chadderton Central (216).

The ward with the lowest rate was Hollinwood (48).

Overall, the ward with the highest rate per 100,000 is Werneth (13,473).

The ward with the lowest rate is Saddleworth South (6,494).

As of Sunday (May 16), there has been 118,397 of Oldham’s registered population vaccinated with their first dose and 63,739 vaccinated with their second dose.
