A bumper charity fund-raising event is planned next month at The Great Saddleworth Get Together.
The family day out will take place at the White Hart in Lydgate on Saturday, June 26 from 12 noon to 5pm.
The team are aiming to raise funds for Oldham Mountain Rescue, North West Air Ambulance and Blood Bikes, Manchester - services manned by volunteers, giving up their spare time, covering the Saddleworth area.
And new for 2021 is “The Great Saddleworth Bake Off” - a competition open to all budding Mary Berry’s who want chance to showcase their talents.
One of the judges is local girl and MasterChef competitor, Jane Harvey.
Any age can apply by visiting The Great Saddleworth Get Together Facebook page and click on the link.
The afternoon event is inspired by murdered MP Jo Cox, who was killed on June 16, 2016.
It will be celebrated all over the UK in June 2021, on would have been Jo’s 47th birthday.
At her first speech to parliament, Jo said: “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us."
Said an event spokesperson: “This special event aims to raise awareness of loneliness in the area and help people realise that there is a lot going on in their communities, no matter how small, and there is always someone willing to listen.
“The day is all about bringing the community together and many local groups are taking part.
"Besides a good selection of stalls, there will be lots of activities for children and grownups alike and our aim is to have a fabulous family fun day.”
The event is run by Love Lydgate Community Group together with Saddleworth Round Table and the White Hart, who aim to build on the success of the last Great Saddleworth Get Together in June 2019.
