MP McMahon encourages continued take-up after receiving his own first Covid jab

Date published: 14 May 2021

Oldham West and Royton MP Jim McMahon received his first Covid-19 vaccination yesterday (Thursday) and is now encouraging all eligible constituents in Chadderton, Oldham and Royton to book their appointments as soon as they can.

Mr McMahon said: “As the vaccination rollout continues at a pace, successfully protecting people here in Oldham, I'm delighted that yesterday I was able to take the AstraZeneca vaccination at the Failsworth Health Centre.

"The fantastic team there are working around the clock to make sure that the population is protected.

“I've joined 115,000 people in Oldham receiving their first dose, while 60,000 have had their second dose.

“The prize is, the more that we are protected and the more people who take the vaccination, the better we are at making sure that we can come through this on the other side.

"The light at the end of the tunnel is nearly here.

“Not everybody will be comfortable taking vaccinations, we completely understand that, but it's so important that we put those to one side, and that together were able to defeat the virus.

“So please when you get that invitation, when your age group is included, please do your utmost to get the vaccination as soon as possible.”
