Details of Bobby Ball's funeral have been released and part of his procession will be around the iconic Blackpool Tower.

The Oldham-born local legend died after testing positive for COVID-19 last week at the age of 76.

The funeral itself will be for invited guests only, but people who wish to pay their respects to the late entertainer will have the option to gather socially distanced in Lytham as the cortege passes by.

Since his death, people both in the industry and in the local community have been sharing memories and expressing their condolances.

The funeral will take place on the 17th of November.

He'll make his way from Lowther Gardens from 11.40am to the end of Warton Street via Church Road, Market Square and Clifton Street.

After the church service (1pm) he'll make his way to Blackpool Tower (1.35pm) to 'rock on' one last time.

The family has said flowers are welcome or alternatively they will accept donations to two charities Bobby was a Patron of - Blue Skies Hospital Fund and Lowther Pavillion.

The UK will be under a national lockdown at the time of the funeral. Under these restrictions the funeral will have to have a maximum of 30 people in attendance.

People are also being advised to avoid travel unless absolutely essential and to stay at home where possible.
