Oldham’s resolute Mayor really ensured  diamonds were forever when she sent  three couples each celebrating 60 years married special congratulations.

Because of current Covid restrictions councillor Ginny Alexander  could not make a personal  visit the couples but they  each received a card and  bouquet of flowers from her to mark the occasion.

She said : “It’s vital we celebrate these marvellous personal achievements and  share them with the wider public.  I was so sorry I was not able to visit each couple in person.”

Betty and Osborne (Ossie) Millar met in 1958 at a dance.  Ossie was a Headmaster at Firbank School and Betty an Accounts clerk.  They have two children, Ian and Sally, and have four grandchildren.
