The search for Screwfix's top tradesperson is back!

Date published: 19 August 2020

With trade professionals playing a vital role in keeping homes and businesses, warm, safe and with power, Screwfix is proud to announce the return of its annual competition, Screwfix’s Top Tradesperson, to Oldham.

Now more than ever, Screwfix aims to celebrate the outstanding work and professionalism of tradespeople, particularly over the recent challenging period, with one exceptional individual winning the profile-boosting accolade and £20K trade bundle.

Screwfix, which has stores based in Oldham, will shortlist entrants to take part in semi-final interviews.

The top 10 will then be selected to join a virtual final in Autumn, where the winner will be crowned by a panel of industry experts.

Danielle Sweet, Screwfix spokesperson, said: “Tradespeople have had to adapt to new ways of working as many people have still needed support with work in their homes and gardens in recent months.

"Now more than ever, Screwfix would like to reward a tradesperson who not only champions their trade with the right can-do attitude, but also acts as an ambassador to highlight the great work trade professionals carry out, no matter the circumstance.

“Since the competition launched in 2009, we have seen thousands of quality entrants every year and we are excited to see what 2020 has to offer.

"We recognise the importance of supporting tradespeople who always go the extra mile for their customers, and I look forward to reading this year’s entries as we look to crown one high calibre individual as Screwfix Top Tradesperson.”

Last year’s winner, Darren McGhee, a roofer from North Lanarkshire, knows first-hand how winning Screwfix’s Top Tradesperson can transform your livelihood.

Darren said: “Winning this competition is the ultimate recognition a tradesperson can receive.

"In the past year, I have continued to grow my business while helping to raise the standards of the roofing industry.

"I would definitely encourage others to enter this life changing opportunity!”

Entries are open for Oldham tradespeople until August 30.
