Industrious school pupils thanked with some yummy gifts from Park Cakes employees

Date published: 13 July 2020

Grateful staff at the Park Cakes Bakery in Oldham thanked industrious pupils from the Philips High School in Manchester who made lots of vital PPE equipment for workers at the Ashton Road site.

In April during lockdown the pupils decided to make PPE plastic face visors within school as they had the machine within its Technology department.

However, unfortunately they did not have the materials.

Two local companies kindly donated these materials, so when the pupils were then asked if they could make some visors for the employees at Park Cakes in Oldham, they were determined not to disappoint.

Philips High worked closely with Lynn Iberson, a manager at Park Cakes, over the course of lockdown and the pupils managed to provide them with PPE plastic face visors for the staff who continued to work having not been furloughed.

Park Cakes responded by kindly donating lots of delicious and amazing cakes to the pupils, which were then made into hampers.

Tina Owen, the Head Teacher, and Justine Bailey, the school's Assistant Head, then started delivering to all keyworkers within the local community.

Ms Owen would like to thank Park Cakes in Oldham and Pyramid in Trafford as well as the staff and students in school who helped make and deliver all the PPE and hampers.
