Despite a down turn in the weather, warm-hearted villagers let the sunshine in for a special Saddleworth Round Table collection for Oldham Foodbank.
In all, more than 4,000 items were gifted to the needy at the collection point in the Kingfisher car park, Greenfield, with a value of over £5,000.
In addition to a strengthened Round Table team, a team of Foodbank volunteers helped scan and sort the food so kind community donations could be sent out to those in need without delay.
Originally, they planned to make it a fancy dress event to celebrate 40 years of beerwalk fundraising.
However, given the partial lockdown, the chairman and Round Table volunteers decided to make the event more low key.
So instead of fancy dress, they wore t-shirts from beerwalks of years gone by - and encouraged everyone else that still has one to wear it on the day.
Said a Round Table spokesman: “It was another terrific effort by our generous community - thank you all.”
