A warm welcome awaits at the Virtual Tavern!
While everyone throughout the UK might be missing out on their trips to the pub thanks to the current Coronavirus lockdown, at least there is some form of respite now as you can check in at Lorraine Robinson's massively popular 'Virtual Tavern'.
After setting up her 'Tavern' as a Facebook group approximately four weeks ago, Springhead-based travel company owner Lorraine, along with 'landlord' Neil Greenwood, have now amassed more than 30,000 worldwide members/followers, and that number is increasing by the day.
The 'Virtual Tavern', which began life as part of a 'Virtual Village', offers live broadcasts, music, quizzes and comedy sketches for everyone to enjoy.
There's even a singles lounge for those seeking love to chat in.
Lorraine said: "Myself and 'landlord' Neil just put a quiz together initially.
"It went out live on a Wednesday night and it's just grown from there.
"We've also got local acts like Andy Lee on board now too.
"We just asked him if he fancied showcasing himself on a Saturday night music show and that's grown too.
"This Friday we've got our first proper comedy night where a local comic - David Broadbent - will feature.
"Each week different things are being added.
"It's like a page (now administered by a 10-strong team) that runs itself now, and we add events into it as and when really.
"The whole project is about escapism, support and positivity during these difficult times."
