A generous-spirited Oldham firm have linked with Saddleworth Round Table to come to the aid of medical teams working long shifts in the intense battle against the coronavirus.
Round Table’s Oldham Hospital Appeal has received a very generous donation from Ultimate Products PLC, a Chadderton consumer products business supplying the retail sector across the UK and Europe.
Said Table’s Mike Procter: “Having seen our appeal, they noted one of the more expensive items requested by frontline NHS workers was portable power chargers.
“Given the very long shifts the hospital staff are working, their phones would often run flat.
"As we have seen, family members are not allowed to visit the Covid 19 wards so frequently the only contact is through the generosity of a nurse or doctor lending a patient their phone.
‘Ultimate Products have donated - completely free of charge - 450 high power chargers, with a retail price of over £9,000.
"Over half have already been distributed at the hospital, with the remainder going in there later this week.
“Saddleworth Round Table are immensely grateful for the very generous donation.
"Because of this, we can keep spending the funds donated by the people of Oldham to the specific items our Oldham NHS staff are requesting.”
Mike added: "We just hit £10k - that’s double our original target.
"We have also received over £50k worth of products donated by local companies.
"Our cash target has now been raised AGAIN to 20k – raised in Oldham, and all for Oldham hospital.”
