Dedicated Daniel hot-foots it in aid of two local charities

Locally-based Hotel Manager Daniel Kristof is certainly showing his kind-hearted side as he's putting everything into raising vital cash for two very worthy charities.

Daniel, aged 25, is currently in his third week of running 5km per day for a year, in aid of two local charities, the Oldham-based 'Team Hill Charitable Trust' and Manchester-based 'Destination Florida Children’s Charity'.

Daniel said: "In early February, there was lots of stigma around social media, where the statement ‘Be Kind’ trended throughout various platforms and media outlets.

"I found this time extremely powerful and wanted to do something that stood out, pushing myself out of my comfort zone and put myself in the heart of local charity initiatives.

"That’s when I confronted my good friend, Steve Hill MBE, with the idea of running a 5k every day for a year, in aid of his charity, plus another one (Destination Florida) that’s based in Salford.

"Steve thought it was a great idea, whereas my family thought I was crazy, including my wife who laughed at the idea when I told her!

"I’m posting my journey via daily through my Facebook and Instagram pages, whilst building a community surrounding the challenge.

"I would like to incorporate multiple fundraising ideas within the page, such as charity raffles, group runs and sponsored coffee mornings within my hotel - the list goes on.

"All the while, fundraising for both charities.

"With my target of £5,000, raising the money won’t be easy.

"Therefore, involving as many people and getting people on board with my challenge, I think it will be do-able!"

All monies raised at the end of the challenge will be distributed evenly amongst both charities.

Daniel added: "This is the first of many charity adventures I will be taking, and my page ‘The Running Manc’ will be where they all take place, involving the community to give back to local causes and initiatives.

"I want to show people that it’s possible to do anything if you put your mind to it.

"I’m hardly athletic and have no previous experience of running for this period of time, therefore I am going to take every day as it comes and really cherish every moment.

"It will be difficult, mentally and physically, although the charities are at the forefront of my challenge and continue to motivate me daily."
