A team of volunteer chefs have turned kind-hearted community fund-raising efforts into delicious home cooked meals for the needy.
The remarkable £4,947 raised in the “great ale giveaway” from the cellars of the White Hart at Lydgate and Dinnerstone, Uppermill, has been turned into community pay back.
The chefs used kitchens of the White Hart to prepare meals to distribute to the vulnerable in Oldham.
The first 400 meals served included cottage pie, sausage and mash and braised beef, and fish pie.
Victoria Lisiecki, Facilities Manager at Age UK, Oldham, said: “The support is greatly appreciated and the feedback has been excellent.
"In coming weeks the team of volunteer chefs are hoping to deliver 600 meals a week out of the Age UK's weekly requirement of 1,000 meals.”
