The Dinnerstone team donated £1,432 to Barnabus and the White Hart team are giving £1,783 to Shelter
Kind-hearted staff at two popular Saddleworth venues closed by the coronavirus have donated their tips to charities.
Charles Brierley, who owns the White Hart at Lydgate and Dinnerstone Uppermill, said: “I am truly humbled and proud of our teams at the White Hart and Dinnerstone, who unanimously agreed to forfeit their March tips and donate them to a charity.
“The Dinnerstone team are giving £1,432 to Barnabus and the White Hart team are giving £1,783 to Shelter.
“It all started Monday morning when one person posted on the Team Whattsapp - ‘Just a thought…as we are lucky enough to still being paid through this, do you think it would be a nice idea to forfeit our March tips and send to a homeless charity?
“The idea was quickly picked up by the other Team Whattsapp and by 5pm everyone had unanimously agreed.
“It’s just a shame that bookings had been decimated in March by coronavirus, otherwise there’d have been a lot more to donate."
“Please everyone, help the NHS and follow the latest Government guidelines," he added.
