As 2019 draws to a close, The Oldham Evening Chronicle has taken a look at some of the boroughs famous faces and their successes across the board.
Back in 2016, Shaw's Nicola White became a gold medallist at the summer Olympic Games in Rio.
Making her debut in 2009, she became a key member of the England and Great Britain's women's Hockey team.
She scored seventeen times and won forteen medals in her international career.
26- year old actress from Oldham, Olivia Cooke, has seen huge success over the last decade- starring in some box office specials.
In 2012, she landed herself the role of Emma Decody in America's 'Bates Motel', which was her first American role.
She then went on to star in the feature film 'The Signal' and led the cast of the horror film 'Ouija'- where she appeared in almost every scene.
In the last ten years, Failsworth's chemical engineer Jim Ratcliffe has been recognised as a British Billionaire- with a net worth of over £21 billion.
Back in May 2009, he was granted an honorary fellowship by the Institution of Chemical Engineers citing “his sustained leadership in building the Ineos Group- the chemicals group that is expected to have a turnover of £80 billion.
Oldham's very own cooking expert Simon Wood started cooking when he could ‘reach the top of an oven’.
He's gone on to win Masterchef in 2015, open a chain of 'Wood' restaurants and has released his debut cookbook 'At Home with Simon Wood – Fine Dining Made Simple'.
2019 has seen Chadderton's Kelvin Flecther win series seventeen of Strictly Come Dancing with his dance partner, Oti Mabuse.
The 35-year old actor and racing driver is best known for his role as Andy Sugden in Emmerdale from 1996 to 2016.
