The much-maligned Christmas tree at Wren's Nest in Shaw
Local residents have hit out at Shaw Parish Council after what some have described as a ‘disgrace’ of a Christmas tree which has been erected at Wren’s Nest.
There are currently numerous comments on various posts on Facebook, most of which have been highly critical of the pitiful-looking tree, which was erected on Monday.
“I have no actual words,” said Dennise Stott Worsley.
“This is the Christmas tree at Wrens Nest in Shaw. I think it's an embarrassment.”
“That’s a disgrace,” Michaela Potts stated.
“Omg! Disaster.” added Julie Barton.
Claire Dex posted: “I remember when it used to be massive with loads of lights.
“If this is the best they can come up with I think they should just forget it.”
Karen Louise Baker said: “That is disgusting. It’s normally massive.
“Oldham council shame on you.”
“Thought it was a giant weed when I passed it earlier,” added Gary Palmer.
The Parish council have placed a plaque on the site to inform people it is a living tree, which will be in place for future generations to enjoy.
Shaw Parish Council have been contacted for a comment.
