Revolution 96.2 celebrates another rise in listener figures.

People in Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside are tuning into local radio station Revolution 96.2, more than ever.

The station’s listener figures have risen again, for the fourth time in a row.

According to industry body Rajar – which collates listening figures for both commercial and BBC stations – Revolution 96.2 has seen a massive increase in audience in the last year.

The number of listeners has risen by 75%, and the amount of time they spend tuned-in to the station has more than doubled.

Revolution’s Managing Director, Matt Ramsbottom told the Chronicle “The Revolution team have worked hard over the last year and  it’s great to have a simple headline of four Rajar increases in a row.

The planning for widening the appeal of Revolution 96.2 across Greater Manchester continues for 2020 as we engage with talent, customers and  new additions to the Revolution family.  

“We have started to engage with the team at Rajar so we marry up the plan with marketing and product development.

"The big corporations have now set the shape of the radio industry for the next ten years or so, it’s are job to continue to survive and grow”. 

The rise in figures comes after consolidation across the commercial radio industry which has seen local breakfast shows become networked from London or Manchester.

Programme Director, Kevin Bailey said: “We’d like to thank every one of our listeners old and new for choosing Revolution 96.2.  We know there’s a huge choice of stations available, and we hope that staying local and relatable strikes a chord with our audience”.

The station, based at Oldham Edge, broadcasts across Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside and Manchester on 96.2FM and on DAB.
