Marie Curie collection volunteers needed in Oldham

Date published: 24 September 2019

Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people living with a terminal illness, is appealing for volunteers in Shaw, Crompton and Royton to help with the charity’s annual appeals.

The charity is looking for people to help place and manage collection tins in businesses, shops, bars and restaurants across Oldham, as well people to help host Christmas collections and Great Daffodil Appeal collections in March next year.

The money raised from local collections means that Marie Curie Nurses, who work day and night in people’s homes across the country, can continue to provide vital one-to-one nursing care and support.

The funds also help run Marie Curie’s nine UK hospices, as well its free Information & Support line which offers practical and emotional support to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

Lynn Partridge, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Oldham, said, “Volunteering is good fun and it’s a great way to meet new people in your local area, while at the same time doing something worthwhile.

“We hope there are plenty of people in the communities across Oldham who could give up a few hours each month to join other volunteers in fundraising for Marie Curie.

We are looking for individuals who are organised and have good communication skills so they can help us make sure more dying people get the care and support they need at the end of their lives.”
