A record turn out of happy revellers joined all the fun under the sun at Delph’s legendary Party in the Park last weekend.

Delighted organisers of the block busting charity fund raiser praised the appreciative audience and top flight  artists who provided  a spectacular nonstop show.

Phil Beckwith, the entrepreneurial mastermind behind the event, commented: “The day was long - but fantastic.

“The sunshine and great music had the  crowd rocking right from the very start through to our “Proms night “ finale with Victor Michael and our very own - Delph band  - including a superb firework display.

“Wake up Delph - the volunteer organisation who stage the  event  to provide funds to “ Put an annual  bit of Christmas Sparkle” into the village - think this was probably the biggest crowd we have had.

“It approached 1800 people and raised a substantial amount of money towards the cause.

“But none of it would happen without the support of Peter Gledhill and everyone at Delph and Dobcross cricket club and Martyn Torr and all at New Image.

“However, the event’s real success is mainly due to a dedicated  team of village volunteers who give heart and soul to the event for days to endure  this the showpiece  it has become.

“A massive thank you to them all and our  loyal and supportive sponsors and corporate guests, who from Day One, have given us brilliant financial support every year.

And of course, the  amazing  people of Delph Village and Saddleworth for, whatever the Weather , you keep up your on- going support. Without  you it just would not happen.

The only downside happened after the party ended when a number of top gazebos were wrecked by bad weather.

And a note for your diary:  Visit The “ lights switch on “ At Delph Saturday, December 7 from 5pm.
