Police seize £300,000 supercar being used as prom car in Oldham

The driver didn't have the right insurance to be driving the £300,000 car

Police in Oldham swooped to seize a supercar worth hundreds of thousands of pounds on Wednesday night (26th June) which was being used to take someone to their prom but wasn’t suitable insured.

They’ve taken to social media to report of the capture of the Lamborghini which was seen driving erratically and was stopped on Manchester Road.

After officers ran some checks on the car, worth around £300,000, and the driver they found that he didn’t have the right insurance to be taking some to their prom.

As a result, the white Lamborghini was seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act and placed on the back of a tow truck.

In a statement on Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham Facebook page, they said: “Yesterday this car was being used to take someone to their prom, the driver was being erratic with his driving so was subsequently stopped by officers. Checks revealed that the driver did not have suitable insurance to drive the £300,000 car, so the vehicle was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

The driver stated her was using his own insurance on third party basis to cover the insurance on this car. Drivers must ensure they have suitable insurance to drive performance vehicles, whether hired or owned personally.”
