Scottish politician describes former Oldham MP as ‘white supremacist’

Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Scottish Greens MSP Ross Greer launched several accusations about the former Prime Minister, who represented Oldham between 1900 and 1906, including claiming he Mr Churchill was a ‘racist because he hated Indians with a passion and branded them a beastly people with a beastly religion.’

Presenter Piers Morgan, who was conducting the interview, jumped to the former PM’s defence: “What you’re saying isn’t just offensive, it’s a downright lie.”

Mr Greer, 24, was appearing on the show after tweeting that Mr Churchill was a ‘white supremacist mass murder’ in reply to a Conservative Party tweet marking the death of the former Prime Minister.

It generated thousands of replies including from Mr Morgan who branded Greer a ‘Thick ginger turd’ and others accusing the 24-year old of ‘attention seeking’ behaviour.

On the programme this morning (Tuesday 29th January) Mr Greer, who was voted to the Scottish Parliament as a 21-year old, claimed the former Prime Minister ‘advocated using poison gas against uncivilised tribes in Africa’ and being ‘responsible for the Bengali famine of 1943’.

A clearly furious Mr Morgan replied: ‘In the middle of the Second World War Churchill is seen in the papers to be very concerned about the famine in Bengal, going to Canada, Australia and Franklin D. Roosevelt in America, beseeching world leaders to help the Bengalis.’

‘I get angered by this, because if it wasn’t for WC you would be speaking German and goose-stepping your way to Holyrood.’
