We’ve got pairs of tickets to give away for Friday’s hotly-anticipated Motown Night special
The brilliant Clyde Spencer, who was once part of The Drifters, comes to town on Friday night (21st) to perform a festive Motown medley with his friends, and you could be there for FREE if you win our latest exciting Chronicle competition.
We’ve got pairs of tickets to give away for Friday’s hotly-anticipated Motown Night special, which takes place at the Cotton Rooms on Rock Street, just outside Oldham town centre.
Tickets, priced at £25 (which include a chicken in a basket dinner) are selling fast, but you could be there for free if you answer this simple question:
Complete the name of this massive Drfters hit, originally from 1964 - 'Saturday night at the ------'.
Email your answer, name and daytime contact number, before the closing date of this Friday (21st) at 1pm, to: news@oldham-chronicle.co.uk
There were three golden eras of the Drifters; the early 1950s, the 1960s, and the early 1970s (post-Atlantic period).
From these, the first Drifters, formed by Clyde McPhatter, was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as "The Drifters".
The second Drifters, featuring the legendary Ben E. King, was separately inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as "Ben E. King and the Drifters".
In their induction, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame selected four members from the first Drifters, two from the second Drifters, and one from the post-Atlantic Drifters.
