There was a very welcome impromptu visitor to the Chronicle offices this lunchtime (Friday).
Marcus Emms, the official Shaw and Crompton Town Cryer, was in the area having been out and about appealing for Christmas toys and donations for the children’s ward at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Joiner Marcus, who was appointed to his Town Cryer role in June, told us: “I’ve been all over today.
“I’ve been to Crompton House school, Asda in Shaw, the hospital and a few other places as I’ve been in touch with the hospital and they are in need of presents and donations.
“I’ve just been out and about drumming up a bit of support and a few people have already been in touch with the hospital.”
Amanda Roberts from the children’s ward at the hospital is co-ordinating the collection of Christmas donations.
