Date published: 16 August 2018
Celebration time at Blue Coat!
Blue Coat headteacher Robert Higgins saluted another 'fantastic' set of results and achievements as his A-level pupils excelled once again.
A number of inspirational tales emerged this morning as excited pupils headed to Blue Coat for their results.
Mr Higgins said: "It’s been another year of fantastic results at Blue Coat, with 60% of all A-level grades being awarded at A* - B.
"This year the demands of A-levels have been much more challenging, with the continued move to linearity and new A-level specifications that provide students and staff with limited resources and materials to prepare for the new style examinations.
"The fact that our pupils and staff have excelled in such challenging circumstances, makes me even prouder of their achievements."
Adam Watson secured an A* in Sociology, an A in Chemistry and an A in Government and Politics.
He is America bound and is going where no Blue Coat student has gone before (or at least in the last five years).
Adam (pictured below) has gained an unconditional offer and an all expenses paid scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania.
The University is part of the prestigious Ivy League group of top performing universities in the USA.
This Year Adam has also been supporting Y12 student to explore the possibilities of studying in the States.
Imogen Sleith secured an A in Religious Studies, B in Theatre Studies and a B in Music.
She is a singing sensation and has starred in all of the Blue Coat choirs.
Pictured above, Imogen has performed at the Royal Albert Hall with school, but can often be found busking on the streets of Manchester too.
Imogen recently performed at the Marsden Jazz festival to great applause.
Imogen will now head to study music at a conservatoire.
