Weather update: Breezy days set to continue

Date published: 16 August 2018

Oldhamers have been missing the heatwave in recent days as autumn begins to feel just around the corner.

Our breezy, cloud-filled days are set to continue this weekend but warm temperatures will give the air a muggy feel.

Today (Thursday), scattered showers are predicted to creep in at around 5pm, but we are in for a dry night.

A wind swinging in a west-northwesterly direction should keep the day cool, with a maximum temperature of 17°C.

A mostly dry Friday will still carry with it plenty of cloud, with some potential showers in the late evening and overnight.

Temperatures will stay similar to today’s before rising this weekend.

Although the cloud and breezes are here to stay for the weekend, temperatures are estimated up to 21°C.

The sun may appear but only in spells, leaving the air muggy without much room to enjoy the heat.

Showers are expected to break out on Sunday, easing away in the afternoon.

Similar trends are set to continue until midweek, when the sun is expected to creep back into Oldham in intervals from next Wednesday.

By then, however, the temperatures around 20°C will have fallen away, peaking at around 17°C for the rest of the week.
