It was a cloudy scene looking across Oldham Edge this morning
It was a cloudy scene over Oldham this morning (Tuesday), with temperatures relatively low compared to recent weeks and set to peak at around 21°C.
Don’t let that fool you, however – later this week Oldham is set to hit temperatures rivalling those areas where our heatwave summer is hitting hardest.
Today the cloud will be with us until the evening but, with a low chance of rain, we will be thankful for the light winds.
Thursday, though, is the day that has everyone talking already.
Light breezes and clouds will be around, but with temperatures predicted between 27°C and 30°C, Oldham is set to bake along with those in the South and South East in particular.
All week has a warning for high UV levels, but be careful of particularly high pollution levels on Thursday and a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm.
Prepare for some showers on Friday, with a yellow warning for thunderstorms from 2pm which could bring flash flooding with high quantities of rainfall in a concentrated period of time.
This is as a band of rain passes over from the west, bringing storms across the UK.
Not quite rivalling Thursday, Friday’s temperatures could reach 24°C.
Following the storms, Oldham is ready to move into a cooler weekend with temperature highs of around 20°C, giving us all some time to recover from the heat of the week!
