Children enjoyed fun in the sun at Sarah's Picnic
The sun beamed down on adults and children who flocked to Stoneleigh Park in Derker to celebrate 'Sarah's Picnic'.
The event was organised in memory of Sarah Limb, a hugely popular fund-raiser from the area who passed away very suddenly last year.
To mark the anniversary of her sad death, organisers planned a huge get-together to bring the community together to remember an amazing friend.
Sarah (pictured below) did lots of fund-raising in Derker, she ran Kit4kids and with that project she provided Easter and Christmas parties for local children.
She helped sourcing Christmas gifts for those in need and Christmas dinners also.
The packed-out event yesterday (Monday) featured a picnic for children and refreshments, while OPAG joined in to help with face paint and big bubbles.
Lots of balloons were also released at 5pm.
Joint-organiser Kelly Jones said: "In the end we raised a massive £165.87 towards Sarah's picnic bench.
"Thank you so much to everyone who attended and everyone who plans on donating in the next few days weeks.
"A Go fund me page will be set up as as we need £600 for a picnic bench at the park.
"It was a most enjoyable day. I think we did Sarah proud.
"Thanks to Councillor Angela Cosgrove, and Carol, Dale and Melissa for supporting me in the park.
"Also thanks to OPAG Oldham, Bernadette, Hilda and Doreen for their amazing food skills, East Methodist church, Greatgethtogether Manchester for sponsoring the event, and Tesco for their £10 donation towards plates, forks and spoons."
