A serious crash in Denshaw has left two people needing hospital treatment and a road closed.
The incident led to traffic problems during this morning's (Wednesday) rush hour.
Ripponden Road remains closed in both directions at its junction with Rochdale Road, close to the Junction Inn.
Greater Manchester Police have set a cordon up surrounding the scene and say a red Mazda collided with a lamppost at around 4am.
The two men inside the car were taken to hospital. However, officers haven’t revealed the ages of the two men and the extent of their injuries are not yet known.
No indication has been given as to when the road will be reopened with drivers being advised to use alternative routes while a number of bus services have also been impacted by the closure of Ripponden Road.
In a Tweet, Greater Manchester Police’s Saddleworth division said: “We are dealing with a serious RTC on Ripponden Road above Denshaw.
"The road is closed between Denshaw x roads and the Rams Head, best to find an alternative if you can.”
