Police investigate serious attack on Yorkshire Street

An investigation has been launched after a man, thought to be in his 50s, was left with serious injuries following an assault in Oldham town centre.
Police were called to Yorkshire Street, near Harry’s Bar, just before 6.40pm on Sunday afternoon (May 6) after reports of an attack.
Emergency services raced to the scene and found the victim.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help them with their investigation into what happened.
One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is understood to still be in police custody awaiting questioning.
