Oldham Mountain Rescue Team train with Coastguard search and rescue
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team spent Sunday afternoon training with the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter.
Two years ago the Coastguard took over responsibility for all UK airborne search and rescue activity.
Sunday's crew, based at Humberside Airport, are just as likely to find themselves flying rescue missions over the Peak District as over the North Sea.
Mountain Rescue teams have to operate regularly with helicopters and it is therefore essential that team members are fully trained in the various skills needed.
Team members were instructed by the crew winchman to use a 'hi line' and practised landing site marshal technique.
